Characteristics of patients with Hepatitis B and C at Dr. Moewardi General Hospital in Surakarta, Indonesia

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C (HCV) infections remain a significant health burden in the world, which is mainly attributed to patients who develop chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The epidemiology of Surakarta, Central Java Province, Indonesia has never been reported. This study aimed investigate demographic, clinical, laboratory characteristics with were admitted Dr. Moewardi General Hospital, Surakarta 2019. medical records (n=94) (n=75) examined, data analyzed using chi-square Mann-Whitney tests. generally older, more likely jaundice ascites, had higher levels serum urea, creatinine, AST, total bilirubin compared those B. In conclusion, HCV infection worse clinical presentation profiles than HBV infection. However, further research needed on wider scale confirm this result.
